It's exciting to work with stones that have brilliant color and this one is no exception. This beautiful Agua Nueve Agate is mined in Mexico. Some lapidaries (those of us who cut, grind and polish our own stones) see scenery in their stones. I'm inspired by the color, pattern and movement of the stone when choosing the cut and setting. Because of the long lines in this agate, I thought it would be stunning to cut a long narrow cabochon. Agates are very hard stones (meaning they take more time to cut and polish), but it's worth every minute because they take on a fantastic high polish. After finishing the stone, I thought it would be cool to accent the gold band in the stone with a piece of hammered bronze. Then I balanced that with a silver accent against the black color. The setting is lightly oxidized and the chain has a bright, polished finish with a toggle clasp. This pendant has a contemporary look and can easily be dressed-up and dressed-down. Either way, it's stunning.
Materials: Sterling silver, bronze, Agua Nueve Agate.
Measurements: The pendant measures 2-1/8" long x 5/8" wide. The chain is 19" long.
Jewelry Care: To preserve the patina, avoid immersing it in water or getting hand/body lotion on it. As metals do, over time the necklace will tarnish due to body oils. It can be polished with any jewelry cloth. Just take care to only polish the raised areas, as the cloth will remove the patina. To preserve the patina, I recommend keeping it stored in a plastic bag.
Shipping: Your one-of-a-kind piece is available and ships within three business days. It ships in a sturdy box, along with a pretty cool decorative package, suitable for gift-giving. Please see Shipping Policy below for more details.
