This is an exceptional piece of Turkish Stick Agate. The pattern in this stone is so well-defined - with beautiful hues of taupe, blue and green. The stone is set in a unique asymmetrical setting of sterling silver and is secured with both a bezel and prong setting. It's so fascinating to cut and polish a stone like this. Take note of the sixth image of the pendant above. I photographed it lying on top of a raw slab of the stick agate, the way it looked prior to cutting, shaping and polishing the stone. Agates are especially fun to cut and polish because the colors become so vivid and it takes on a spectacular shine. The sterling silver was oxidized and then polished for contrast and highlights.
Materials: Sterling silver, Turkish Stick Agate.
Measurements: The pendant is 2-3/4" long x 1-1/4" wide. It hangs from an 18" black leather cord with a 1-1/2" extender. I attached two sweet, little agate cubes on the extender for an extra accent.
Jewelry Care: To preserve the patina, avoid immersing it in water or getting hand/body lotion on it. As metals do, over time the earrings will tarnish due to body oils. They can be polished with any jewelry cloth. Just take care to only polish the raised areas, as the cloth will remove the patina. To preserve the patina, I recommend keeping them stored in a plastic bag.
Shipping: Your one-of-a-kind piece is available and ships within three business days. It ships in a sturdy box, along with a pretty cool decorative package, suitable for gift-giving.
