After cutting, forming and polishing this unique piece of petrified wood into a heart, I couldn't decide whether to use copper or sterling silver, so why not use both? The copper backplate has a subtle leaf texture. I made the bezel half copper, half sterling silver and finished the design with a sterling silver ball at the top and the bottom of the heart. Pretty cool.
 
Materials: Petrified wood, sterling silver, copper.
 
Measurements: The copper chain is 18" long. The pendant, from the top of the bail to the bottom is 1 1/2" L x 1 1/4" W. 
 
Jewelry Care: To preserve the patina, avoid immersing it in water or getting hand/body lotion on it. As with most metals, over time the necklace will tarnish due to body oils. It can be polished with any jewelry cloth. Just take care to only polish the raised areas, as the cloth will remove the patina. To preserve the patina, I recommend keeping it stored in a plastic bag.
